The Telugu Desam seems to be rattled by YSRC leader Y.S. Sharmila Reddy's proposed 3,000 km padayatra, going by the wild reaction from its leaders.

“Sharmila has to clarify why her brother Jagan is in jail before undertaking the padayatra. What about illegal assets? Why is she undertaking the padayatra,“ TD MLA A. Revanth Reddy wanted to know.

He said, “Our party chief launched his padayatra to share the woes of people. Other parties are now following him.“

Senior party leader Varla Ramaiah said Ms Sharmila was no match to party president N.Chandrababu Naidu.

“She is in her 30s and he is 63. Mr Naidu is a seasoned politician and a good administrator.

People will back him.” The TD leaders’ jittery reaction is understandable, as Sharmila’s yatra is expected by the YSRC to be a big hit since it would be the first such political exercise to be undertaken by a young woman in the state.

Sharmila has already proved her mettle along with her mother Y.S. Vijayalakshmi in the recent bypolls, with the YSRC sweeping the polls.
