The incessant rains in the two Telugu states, especially in Hyderabad, have made it difficult for the people to come out of their houses for daily activities. The effect will obviously be seen on the films playing in theatres.
The film to lose most is Nani's latest romantic drama 'Majnu', which hit screens on this Friday. As Nani is riding on a success spree, the film has a positive vibe and it was released in good number of theatres. However, the footfalls have been reported very less on the opening day due to torrential rain. On the other hand, the film has received mostly above average to positive reviews so the makers expect for a surge in the revenues if the Rain God shows mercy on the Telugu states.
Dhanush's new film 'Rail', which was released on Thursday, was already suffering from weak promotions and the rains have further dented its box office prospects. 'Janatha Garage' and 'Jyo Achuthananda' are the two other major films in theatres, which were doing fine until the steady rains refrained audiences from marching into theatres. Hopes of 'Janatha Garage' makers to dethrone 'Srimanthudu' from All Time 2nd spot have almost submerged in the rainwater. -
