Frequent power cuts resulted in the death of 21 Patients being treated for various health issues at the State Government-run Gandhi Hospital on Friday.

Electricity tripped for the first time at 3 PM and frequent disruptions continued. Even the four generators which were kept on standby can't be used as power lines were cut off to find the reason behind tripping.

Telangana Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy, however, says its not fair to blame power outages for the deaths as Gandhi Hospital mostly patients get admitted here in the last stages.

Gandhi Hospital General Secretary Dr. R Raghu told 10 patients die on an average per day at the state-run hospital. Most of the deceased were on life support and a Doctor had performed surgery using his mobile phone torch.
