Success of 'Nenu Sailaja' brought an end to the successive flops in Ram's career. This time, Our Energetic Star teams up with Santhosh Srinivas who offered him the super hit 'Kandireega'. 'Hyper' is carrying good expectations due to the combination, genre and reputation of the production house.
Synopsis:
'Hyper' is all about Surya (Dad), a hyper-active guy, who is obsessed about his father Narayana Murthy (Sathyaraj). Things go in a smooth manner until an influential Minister (Rao Ramesh) is hell-bent on making Narayana Murthy, a sincere government officer, sign a file. When Murthy turns down the file, The Minister takes it very personal and began targeting his family. That's where Surya takes control of the situation and the rest of the story is about how he settles scores with the baddies.
Performances:
Although his energy levels were appreciable, There is no freshness in Ram's characterization or his performance. He, however, does pretty well in the interval block.
Raashi Khanna increased her glamour dose. She is just alright when it comes to the acting skills.
Satyaraj is first rate and a delight to watch in emotional scenes. Rao Ramesh once again entertains in the role with negative shade. Murali Sharma is okay. Rest of the cast is adequate.

Gibran's Musical Score is disappointing. None of the composition leave a strong impact. Background Score by Manisharma is okay. Sameer Reddy's Camera Work deserves a special mention. Production Values are rich. Some of the dialogues penned by Abburi Ravi were good enough. Santhosh Srinivas has yet again picked up a routine subject but failed to entertain as much as he did with 'Kandireega'. Although the point is quite fresh, He didn't succeed in penning an interesting screenplay around it. Those who expected him to make a comeback after 'Rabhasa' were let down.
Analysis:
People assumed Ram might have changed with 'Nenu Sailaja'. Watching 'Hyper' makes them realize their judgement is completely wrong and the Young Hero hasn't learnt any lessons from his failures.
The central point 'Son's obsession for Dad' is quite interesting. Trailers have given an impression that lots of entertainment will be generated with such a fresh idea. However, Lack of freshness in Scenes and Screenplay makes it unbearable. Be it the Love Story or Hero-Villain confrontation, None of them engage the Audience. Particularly, Director has taken too much cinematic liberties in the First Half and planned Scenes as per his convenience. The interval sequence where Ram shows his attitude will connect well with the Masses.
Compared to First Half, Graph of Second Half falls drastically. Here, The screenplay is so predictable as Director relied on the same old template. Dialogue Writer Abburi Ravi showed Bommarillu hangover in the emotional scenes. Lectures given on Misunderstandings and Sincere Government Officer test the patience of the viewers.
Santhosh Srinivas should be blamed for not being able to make the most out of the resources he have. Entertainment Values weren't up to the mark. In addition, Serving the routine stuff makes the film as just an ordinary product. For those who crave for popcorn entertainment, 'Hyper' could be pleasing to some extent. But, The rest could patiently wait for the next outing of the Energetic Boy.
