Melbourne,
May 22: Innovative Victorian new media company My Heroes has inked a
deal with Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals that will
allow its fans to connect personally with their favourite cricket
players across a number of media forums, it was announced here Tuesday.
Victorian and Australian great Shane Warne had captained Rajasthan
Royals in the first four editions of IPL, leading them to victory in the
inaugural.
Minister
for Innovation, Services and Small Business Louise Asher said the deal
was just one of many successful outcomes following the Victorian
government's super trade mission to India earlier this year.
"By
accessing celebrity and team-based intellectual property, My Heroes
will develop a suite of fan-based interactive products, using
traditional and new media, to connect India's youth to their cricket
heroes," Asher added.
My
Heroes specialises in digital and electronic products including
personalised items such as cards, posters, milestone and growth charts,
calendars and electronic products as well as "hero apps" for mobile
phones, iPads and iPhones.
Asher
said the growing Indian market enabled My Heroes position itself as a
leader in digital and electronic personalised sports and entertainment
products across the world.
"My
Heroes has leveraged its strategic competitive advantage in the Indian
market, connecting fans through sport and entertainment," she added.
My
Heroes' Chief Executive Officer Jon Field said he was delighted the
company had been able to secure the partnership with the Rajasthan
Royals.
"During
the super trade mission to India earlier this year, we were able to
engage with key contacts including the Rajasthan Royals, other Indian
Premier League teams, the League's governing body, as well as various
Bollywood talent management companies with whom we had existing
relationships," Field said.
"The super trade mission was certainly a catalyst for this deal."
"Support
from the Victorian government has helped enable us to build successful
relationships and an extremely exciting new media venture in India,"
Field added.
Mumbai/Jallandhar,
May 21: Pune Warriors' players Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell claimed
Monday that they don't use drugs and they were at the wrong place at the
wrong time when the Mumbai police raided a rave party at the Oakwood
Premier hotel near Juhu beach.
South African pacer
Parnell, who converted to Islam last year, and India leg-spinner Sharma
were among the 100 people who were rounded up Sunday after police busted
a rave party. Both are Indian Premier League players.
"I
don't do drugs. Myself and Rahul were there at the hotel in a party at
the request of a friend. We went there and at 7'o'clock police were all
over in the party. We were just at the wrong place at the wrong time,"
said Parnell in Mumbai.
Addressing the media in
Jallandhar, Sharma said: "I was invited to a birthday party. Wayne
Parnell was with me, I did not know that there was a rave party at the
hotel."
Sharma maintained that he is clean and also said that he would give up cricket if he tests positive.
"We
reached there at around 7 in the evening and all of a sudden within
half an hour of us reaching there, the police raid happened. We didn't
know what was happening, I asked the police officers and they told me
that a raid was in progress.," Sharma said.
"We have
cooperated with the police and have even given medical tests. I belong
to a simple family and have not even had a beer in my life. Where does
the question of attending a rave party arise? I will give up the sport
if my tests come out positive. I have told everything to the team
management and things would be clear once the medical report comes out,"
he said.
Asked if the friend who invited them was an old
acquaintance, Parnell said: "It was an old friend and we met him last
year. We have been in touch with him since then. We have nothing to do
with drugs. We are on the WADA (World Anti Doping Agency) list and
tested regularly."
The 22-year-old from Port Elizabeth
said he and Sharma had given their blood and urine samples for testing
and that he was confident they would come out clean.
"We
fully cooperated with the cops. We have also given them our blood and
urine sample and I am confident that our reports will be negative," said
Parnell.
Parnell said after they were rounded up, they were separated in two groups of boys and girls and were taken to a hospital.
"We
were taken to two-three hospitals and then landed up at the same
hospital were the group was there. We have signed all the papers and
submitted the documents as well," he said.
Mumbai,
May 22: BCCI Chief Srinivasan’s son Aswin has caused plenty of
embarrassment to his father by publicly admitting that he is a fag and
his father has been torturing him to lead a normal life.
It
may be recalled that Aswin was arrested along with his boy friend Avi
when he created nuisance in a pub in Mumbai recently. After his release
on bail, Aswin was out of circulation. Now he has rattled his father by
disclosing sensational facts in an interview to the DNA magazine. “My
father is against same sex relationship. He has been torturing me to
lead a normal life since 1998. The torture became unbearable after I
fell in love with Avi Mukherjee. He has started torturing both of us.
Using my NRI status, Srinivasan
is indulging in money laundering. We will save ourselves with this evidence,” he told the interviewer.
Responding
to the allegations made by Aswin, Srinivasan said this was a family
matter and like all parents whatever they do was for the good of their
children. Srinivasan, a big industrialist who has several other
headaches because of his additional responsibilities as the chairman of
the BCCI is being tormented by his fag son. Will his son expose his
money laundering activities, is the big thing being discussed in
industrial and sports circles.
